The Inland Iron

“The Men in Black” are known for the catchphrase: “Don’t let the Iron get hot.” The Inland Iron are led by Captain Ben Monts and league legend John Monts (only player in league history to win Silver Slugger, Cy Young, and MVP in their career). The team has had its cold moments, but when the lineup is firing on all cylinders, this team is known to rack up runs and are responsible for the creation of the Mercy Rule. Rounded out by veteran journeyman Alex Jones, rookie standout Garrett Grant, and sleeper stud Connor Greth, the team is still on the hunt for their first championship.

BEN “THE MONTSTER” MONTS

Captain of the Inland Iron and one of the founders of the league, Monts is known for his extreme breaking pitches, plate discipline, and late inning heroics. Currently in his 7th season, Monts is the only remaining founder of the league without a championship ring, something he is looking to change.

JOHN “THE LEGEND, THE HUMAN HIGHLIGHT FILM” MONTS

If there was a Mount Rushmore of the BBWL, John Monts would be firmly planted upon it. Season 1 Cy Young, Season 3 Silver Slugger, Season 5 Home Run Derby winner, and Season 6 MVP; Monts has been a dominant force in the league since the beginning and commands many of the top spots in the all-time leader boards.

ALEX “DOCTOR JONES” JONES

The Doctor is in. Alex Jones is a defensive specialist and contact king in the BBWL. After suffering a back injury during Season 6, he still played the majority of the season and underwent surgery less than a month after the it ended. Now, he looks to use his new back to carry the Iron to their first championship.

CONNOR “MR. EVERYWHERE” GRETH

Greth is a standout utility man in the Iron organization. With his willingness to play anywhere and his capacity to be competitive regardless of position in the field or lineup, Greth has been a thorn in the side of many pitchers because of his plate discipline and swing-off power.

GARRETT “G-MAN” GRANT

The newest member of the Iron, Garrett Grant brings a new fire to the team that keeps the Iron hot. With tenacity on both the mound and at the plate, Grant’s greatest strength is in his knowledge of the game and desire to compete with every pitch.
